Speed up shutdown windows with registry

Is your PC taking forever to shut down? Learn how to fix slow shutdown times using the Registry Editor in Windows 10 and Windows 11. Follow these simple steps to speed up the shutdown process and enjoy faster shutdowns.

To begin, go to the start menu and type “regedit” to open the registry Editor. Once opened, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and click on “SYSTEM.” From there, go to CurrentControlSet and click on “Control.” Within the control folder, you’ll find the “WaitToKillServiceTimeout” option. Double-click on it and change the value to 1000. It’s important not to set it below 500 to allow applications to clean up before shutting down.

Please try and let us know if you experience faster shutdowns. Thank you.
